The MNAR administers enforcement of the REALTORS® Code of Ethics for the entire state of Minnesota. It is the Code of Ethics that separates REALTORS® from other licensees - so, we take enforcement of the Code very seriously.
Two types of hearings occur: ethics review and arbitrations (commission disputes). Scroll down for information on how to file an ethics complaint or click here to file an arbitration request. Alleged ethics violations can be filed by both members and the public. Hearing panels, made up of REALTORS®, have disciplinary powers that include censorship, fines, suspensions and expulsion from membership. Arbitration of commission/fee disputes by a panel of REALTOR® peers allows us to resolve those matters out of the public eye.
The MAR conducts an annual training session for hearing panel members. By centralizing training and hearing administration at the state association, we can provide more consistent decision making and minimize local competitive pressures among the parties and panel. |
